In his inspiring Presidential Address for the Rotary year 2026–27, Rotary International President Olayinka Hakeem Babalola called upon Rotary Clubs and Districts across the world to “Create Lasting Impact” through service, inclusiveness and self-transformation. Emphasising that Rotary is not merely an organisation but a global family, he urged members to strengthen fellowship and embrace Rotary’s international spirit.

The address highlighted how Rotary transforms not only communities but also the lives of Rotarians themselves. Through moving examples from the United States, South Africa and Nigeria, the President demonstrated how Rotary’s compassion, educational initiatives and healthcare projects have created enduring social impact.

A major focus of the speech was directed towards Rotary Clubs and their approach to membership and leadership. President Babalola encouraged clubs to become more open, inclusive and welcoming, particularly towards young people and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Recalling his own struggle to join Rotary as a young Rotaractor, he appealed to clubs to remove barriers and create an atmosphere of belonging and encouragement.

He further challenged every Rotary Club and District to surpass its own previous achievements rather than competing with others. Clubs were encouraged to improve membership growth, fundraising and service projects by adopting a mindset of continuous progress and meaningful impact.

The President also reiterated Rotary’s global commitments towards polio eradication, peacebuilding, quality education and humanitarian service. He stressed that true progress begins with change within ourselves, which ultimately transforms clubs, communities and the world at large.
